Senate Votes on Oil Spill, Energy Legislation Cancelled after Some Democrats Break Ranks

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) decided Aug. 3 to cancel upcoming procedural votes on oil spill and energy legislation (S. 3663) after he became concerned about possible Democratic defections from the party’s offshore drilling reform proposal.
