Fed Issues Proposed, Final Mortgage Rules; FFIEC Issues Reverse Mortgage Guidance

The Federal Reserve Board is stepping up efforts to restructure ground rules for U.S. mortgage issuers with the Aug. 16 release of five separate rules and guidance.

The flurry of Monday morning activity included a 930-page proposed rule amending Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act, or TILA), which will complete the Fed’s regulatory review of mortgage lending rules, begun with two proposed rules issued last August (93 BBR 171, 7/28/09).
